Black Oystercatcher Wines, Events & Venue

Black Oystercatcher is a family-run wine farm at the cool southernmost tip of Africa. Here the boutique Black Oystercatcher Wines are made from the intensely fruity grapes, formed in Cape Agulhas’ extreme growing conditions.

And having farmed at Cape Agulhas for generations,  the Human family, know these conditions well. They use the constant coastal winds, our marginal soils and the unique geology to grow our small compact berries. The result? Top quality cool climate wines with penetrating, fruit flavours and a distinctive minerality.

The farm, nestled in the rural landscape at Cape Agulhas, is also home to the Black Oystercatcher Restaurant, Venue and Cottages.

Raka
This wine was named after Raka, the beloved fishing boat of Piet Dreyer, proprietor of Raka wines. For more than three decades Piet has plied the seas of the southern ocean in search of the finest catch. The same passion has found home at Raka, where the Dreyer family now pursue the earth’s bountry for the creation of fine wines.

Restless River
At Restless River, things are done a little differently, and mostly by hand. Probably more like the way things were done before mass production. It takes a lot of time and effort to make wine this way, so no more than a few thousand bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay are produced. But, this love and care results in unique, somewhat rebellious wines that have their own distinctive personality and character, shaped each year by that particular vintage. www.restlessriver.com

Oneiric
Tucked away in the Kogelberg Biosphere is the exquisite farm that is Oneiric. The name Oneiric comes from the Greek meaning “to dream” and the farm and the wines are both that. A visit to Oneiric often leaves our guests speechless.

With rolling hills, trout dams, picnic areas, a tasting barn and gift shop; guests often pop in for a tasting and end up spending the day.
With wines which have received points in the 90’s and which have received awards at numerous top wine shows around the world it is no wonder that in just 22 months Oneiric has become a firm favourite of the wine drinking community.  Playing on a copper theme, with the families roots in mining, the labels all center around this theme bringing together a very metallic looking label, with each label playing on a different copper derivative.
Pronounced Oh!-ne-rik it is a name worth remembering.
